Black-a-nomics

African-Americans have made many strides towards success, from being transported from Africa and being slaves for many, many generations to being Chief Executive Officers of Fortune 500 companies. A lot of people are now standing up proud, proud to be citizens of the United States, and proud to have witnessed the inauguration of our first African-American President, and first family.

However, what a lot of us fail to realize is that this is simply only one piece of the puzzle and a lot more progression needs to be done. Many have come to question is “white” the only color of success? This question arises as we see small percentages of colleges filled with African-Americans, and fewer numbers in corporate executives in Fortune 500 companies.

There are many things we can do to overcome this, first of which would be to start looking beyond the color of our skin, and more in the quality of ourselves and our work. I truly believe that we need to stop making excuses and blaming others for our indiscretions. We should also work towards increasing our financial literacy. In the current economic times, it would be very wise to fully understand what we should be doing with our finances and how to better manage them.

Overall, within the past year, the economic wealth of black people in America have been declining, due to the fault of the sub prime loans and foreclosure crises and increasing rates of unemployment. We need not to give up, gain the courage to rise up again. It is going to be a tough and long battle, but with a positive spirit, all is possible. With the hope of change preached by our President, hopefully this will inflict change within ourselves and continue striving to want more!

Hunger

...hungry for emotional stability
...hungry for success.
Hunger is a strong or compelling desire or craving.
I desire....
...love.
...good health.
...passion.
But when I achieve this, will I still be hungry?
